Takaichi pledges strong support for Bangladesh's nation-building efforts

Today, I welcomed Prime Minister Tarique Rahman of Bangladesh and held a summit meeting with him. Amid growing instability in the international situation, it is important for Japan and Bangladesh to contribute to peace and stability in the region and share prosperity by strengthening our respective autonomy and resilience. Japan will strongly support the nation-building efforts of the Rahman administration, which took office following democratic general elections. From this perspective, today I discussed with Prime Minister Rahman cooperation between Bangladesh and Japan, two countries that share values such as democracy and the rule of law. Bangladesh and Japan are important partners in realizing the updated Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP).
